Girl's Sailor Dress
The sailor dress first became
popular in the late 1800's when girls no longer wore formal late
Victorian crinolines and stays on a daily basis. At least for school
and play, the high yoke and moderate lengths allowed
girls to run and move freely. Our Sailor Dress tries to keep the
spirit of the original. The high yoke is fully lined to avoid
any scratchiness and is finished with a zipper in the back.
The large square yoke extends to the back of the dress and along
with the cuffs is done in a contrast color. The skirt is
moderately full, but not as full as our other high yoke dresses and
comes to a mid-length. We will add finished lengths to the
chart below as we make one of each size, but as a general rule,
these dresses are just a bit shorter than the size chart length. You are welcome to try any
fabric combination. For a truly classic sailor dress with a
more formal look, use one of the blues with a white collar and
cuffs. Available in short sleeves from size 2-14.
