	We use various kinds of fabric for our dresses. Below you will find a variety of 100% cotton as well as Tropical Breeze 65/35 poly-cotton. Tropical Breeze is a high quality fabric line of small florals created exclusively for making clothing. We highly recommend Tropical Breeze for those who don't like to iron and have active girls who play hard. Many ladies also find Tropical Breeze fabrics to look and feel quite dressy and recommend it for "Sunday" dresses. If we do not carry a Tropical Breeze fabric you like, we suggest that you order your fabric directly from Gehmans. See our offline ordering page for more information. For our more expensive fabrics, there is generally a surcharge of $1 per garment for baby/toddlers, $2 for girls, $3 for women and $4 for plus sizes. These fabrics are from this year's line of quilt shop cottons as well as our corduroys and denims. We think that you will be very pleased with the quality and variety. Please note the two asterisks (**) by the fabric number and add the appropriate amount as you purchase garments. Whenever possible, we acquire quilt shop cottons at sale prices and pass the savings on to you by omitting the surcharge. To request fabric swatches, please send a stamped, self addressed envelope. While we generally do not sell our fabrics, if you have a special request, please send us an e-mail. Some fabrics are difficult to photograph. We have done our best to represent color and size to you, but if a fabric looks fuzzy, know that it is a fault with the picture, not the fabric. If you are unsure about a fabric, please send for fabric swatches.

Kaufman vs Benartex Many have asked about the difference between Kaufman (Kona) solids and Benartex solids. We enjoy them both and find them to be of equal quality. Kaufman solids are a little heavier and are very durable. We use them all year round but especially enjoy them in cooler months. They are appropriate for any of our clothing. Benartex solids are a little lighter and great for blouses, dresses, jumpers etc. They are especially comfortable in warm weather.

Tropical Breeze--Limited Stock Fabrics We have limited amounts of the following fabrics. There is not enough of any for a women's dress, but there may be enough for a woman's jumper or girl's dress, for blouses and skirts. Please e-mail us with the item and size before ordering and we'll let you know if we have enough. If you don't want to e-mail ahead of time, you may also put these in your order as a first choice but give us a 2nd choice in case there is not quite enough for your desired garment.

100% Brushed Cotton, Corduroy and Denim Brushed cotton is heavier and softer than regular 100% cotton, but not as heavy as flannel. It feels very much like a light weight flannel shirt and is nice for both nightwear and winter dresses. (return to top of page)
